Up and at 'em
The alarm went off at 6:15 a.m. Dave got up and dressed and headed over to Winnebago's service department to tell them we are here. I went back to sleep. A few minutes later Dave returned to say they are going to take us in 15 minutes. I flew out of bed and into the bathroom. I had just finished brushing my teeth when someone knocked at the door. The tech was here to check out what we wanted done.Dave explained I needed time to get dressed, which I did amazingly fast, then we let the tech in while I put on my socks. Dave showed him the things that needed fixing and I asked where we should bring the RV. The tech then explained he would drive it from here. Man, we hadn't even had breakfast! So, I ran around grabbing the things I though we would need then the tech drove me over and dropped me off outside customer service.
Inside we found a huge lounge area with a couple of TVs, one at each end, and computer stations in the middle along with a table where several women were working a jigsaw puzzle. We claimed two computer stations and started doing our morning computer stuff.
We also ate breakfast there--buffalo jerky and Larabars. In case you have never heard of Larabars, let me introduce them to you. These are fruit and nut bars that have natural flavorings added to make the tastiest healthful bars you have ever eaten! Check them out at https://www.larabar.com/secure/index_.php. We buy them at REI but I think you can get them at other camping and outdoor stores.
Awhile later Dave was called to the front desk where we met the guy he had talked to on the phone. It seems, after they talked the other day the side curtains we want had been recalled for a defect. The front curtains are here but the new side curtains are being delivered Monday. What would we like to do? We decided to wait for them. They are going to let us turn the cab area into usable space even when the curtains are closed and we want that very much. So, we'll be spending the weekend here at Winnebago. Fortunately, we are in their small park right next door with trees and everything so it feels like an OK place to be.
So they went back to work on our warranty stuff and we had lunch. More buffalo jerky but this time with a granola bar supplemented with vending machine goodies.
Before we finished eating that they came to tell us they were done for today. If they'd been 15 minutes earlier this time, we could have had a real lunch.
It turns out the sensors Pleasureland St Cloud couldn't find time to fix weren't broken. They'd just come loose. Winnebago glued them back on and they are sensing just fine. I'm glad we didn't drive back to St Cloud for that. I've emailed them to cancel that appointment.
So we went over to Winnebago's Rally grounds to fill the fresh water tank and Cenex to fill the diesel tank. The Cenex place had gas but no station. It was just a row of pumps with a small shed nearby where a listing of emergency phone numbers were posted. I've never pumped gas where there was no attendant present. In Oregon they don't even let you pump your own gas! Iowa, apparently, is more laid back than I'd realized.
Then we went back to the campground to see if we could do some of our catchup work. It started raining shortly after we got set up again so we spent the rest of the afternoon and evening doing computer stuff and still didn't get caught up. Part of that is because our connection here is slow with occasional drops. It would be higher quality if we moved into the parking lot and connected to Winnebago's WIFI but being elbow to elbow with the big rigs parked on the asphalt doesn't really appeal to me so we are settling for slow and intermittent.
My phone is also intermittent. I hadn't realized that until our daughter called. In my pocket, the phone received the signal and rang. By the time I got it to my ear, it was no longer communicating but it didn't hang up either. So, I sat there "halloing" for awhile before I realized I had no bars. The second time that happened, I decide that was cruel to both my daughter and me so I turned off my phone. That way her calls will at least go directly to voice mail and we won't keeping hoping we'll be able to talk. If she really needs me, she'll send an email and I will, slowly, answer.
TTYL,
Linda
