O Dark Hundred

O dark hundred is what time we say it is when we need to do things before daylight.  We had the alarm set for 6 a.m. but Dave was up before then which woke me.  It was so dark outside I couldn't see anything except occasional headlights going by.  But, having been caught unprepared for the Winnebago service tech last Friday, we were determined to be ready by 7 a.m. today since that's when they said they'd be ready for us.  I didn't understand how they could be ready for us that early since they had to wait for parts to be delivered but that's what they said so that's what we prepared for.

With only an hour before they were due here, I skipped my morning shower and we ate breakfast sooner after I took my morning medicine than I am supposed to do.  Then we waited.

Dawn came and with it the ability to see the other rigs parked around us.  One by one they left to be serviced even though it wasn't yet 7:00.  I guessed they wanted to be first in line but I have no idea where they thought they were going to go since closer parking was pretty full.

7 a.m. arrived.  But, the tech didn't.  Then 7:10—no tech.  7:20—no tech.

Finally, Dave decided he should go over and check in just in case they were waiting for that.  So, he unplugged the electricity and disappeared while I retracted the slide, turned off all the lights, and moved into the passenger seat with my book to be ready for imminent departure.

Not so imminent.  After awhile I got up and moved to the table with my computer, thinking I might as well get started on my morning computing while waiting.

An hour later, Dave returned.  When he checked in they told him someone would be right out to talk to him.  Not so right.  When they did come they told him they didn't expect the parts to arrive until midmorning so they saw no reason to call us in.  So, Dave gave them the list of three more warranty repair items we'd discovered over the weekend.  We had thought they could be doing those as well as installing the front curtains while waiting for the side ones to arrive.  They said Dave should go back to the RV and they'd call us in to do those things.

Now it's 10:15 a.m. and we're still waiting for the call.  I could have slept in and taken my shower if they'd told us Friday it wouldn't be before midmorning instead of telling us to be ready at 7 a.m.

About 11 a.m. we decided to drive over, park out front, and see what's really happening.  The guys are at lunch.  So we went, too, except we went to Pizza Hut since the first two places we tried were closed.

About ten to one the tech we were working with on Friday came to talk to us.  The window shade parts haven't come in yet would we like them to go ahead and do the warranty things while waiting?  Yes!

So, I asked when they expect the parts.  Not before 10 a.m. tomorrow.  So, we'll be here another night but I'm NOT getting up at O Dark Hundred!

TTYL,

Linda
