Home Improvement
The Gypsy Gathering is a group of RVers getting together to learn how to make this great lifestyle even better. We attend seminars, visit with vendors of specialty products, visit with each other, and attend social events. We've spent two days attending seminars and two days visiting vendors and getting work done on our RV. We're still doing the second part. We've had the leak by our toilet fixed although the repairman said they used the wrong type of hose and connector for a system under pressure so he recommend we get that replaced some time when we can handle them pulling up the floor to fix it.
That same repairman figured out what we need to do to get our new blinds to work properly. He said our plan to replace the original double stick tape with other double stick tape probably wouldn't work because the heat on the windshield would cause it to let go as well. He was right; it did. He put in a couple of screws that look like they will do the job so we plan to buy and install more of those.
Then we bought some new fire extinguishers. Anyone who attends one of Mac the Fire Guy's seminars buys more fire extinguishers. This is Dave's second time attending and my first and we bought two more extinguishers today. So we spent some time figuring out where and how to mount those.
While we were at Mac's some local guys were installing new light fixtures in his RV. I said I didn't know anyone here was doing lights so Mac sent us inside to see what they were doing. The light installer is in our RV now replacing our halogen lights with LEDs which require much less electricity as well as being much less likely to start a fire. This is something we wanted done so we are glad to be able to get it done here and now.
In the meantime we've installed more hooks and velcro strips to hold other things in useful places.
We also bought products that will let us wash our RV without using water. We've been hearing rave reviews about Dri Wash and Guard and our RV badly needs cleaning what with the bugs we gathered driving at night and the rain/dust storm Ike brought here. But, we can't actually wash our RV until we get a ladder since not even Dave is tall enough to wash this vehicle. So, that task remains on our to-do list.
We also met another woman riding a Segway and she loaned us her instruction manuals. We learned a lot from them. We need to call the dealer we bought mine from and ask them to send us the manuals and the tool kit that was supposed to come with it. We might also ask him for the power cord but, since it uses the same type a PC does, we already got one of those from another friend. Hi, George.
Next we need to call the guy we want to install our solar system and see if we can get on his schedule. He's in Florida so we don't want to go there until hurricane season is over.
Slowly but steadily we are making our home perfect for us.
TTYL,
Linda

Hi, Linda & Dave
I am totally enjoying reading about your adventures. Our RV continues to be parked where you last saw it.
