Let there be light

Saturday evening we were sitting quietly doing computer stuff when the lights blinked. Then they blinked again. Then they dimmed. Then the new LED lights turned off altogether leaving us with one dim overhead light. OK, try not to panic.

Number one response--get out our flashlights.

Number two response--call Phil Botnick, the guy who has been doing minor repair jobs on our RV here at the Gypsy Gathering. Yes, the Gathering is officially over but a bunch of us are still here recovering. Luckily for us, Phil is one who is still here.

He is not happy. I mean it's Saturday night; no one wants to work on Saturday night. But he comes anyway, puts a charger on our batteries which makes the lights come back on, and says he'll see us in the morning. We make him promise not to come too early.

So, Sunday morning Phil is here again. Now that he's awake enough to think, he thinks it might be a blown fuse. So he looks. Sure enough there's a blown fuse. So he replaces it. Pfffft. Blows the new one.

Phil finds a short in the converter. Do we want to replace it with a new converter or a reconditioned one? He knows we are planning to install a solar system at which time this converter will become backup rather than primary which is why he offers us a reconditioned one. He says Winnebago should reimburse us for either one under the warranty but we decide to go with the less expensive one just in case.

So, Phil replaces our converter and we have light!

I am so grateful for people like Phil who can not only diagnose our mechanical/electrical problems but fix them as well. And on a Saturday night/Sunday morning to boot! I hope you have at least one Phil in your life.

TTYL,
Linda
